January 31st Training Update
I thought you might like to know my reasons for doing this challenge for Walton Lea.
Firstly, many of you will have driven past the entrance on the A56, just before the crematorium, and not even realise that it’s there. The Walton Lea Partnership is a local charity that provides life-long supported learning and development for vulnerable adults and people with learning disabilities. The learners are supported by a wonderful group of talented, caring support workers and volunteers to help them realise their full potential. Although much loved by those who know it, many people are unaware of the amazing work done there.
Now that we are re-emerging into a post-Covid world, Walton Lea continues on its development journey, and it has exciting times ahead. Like a chrysalis emerging from its Covid cocoon, I am also going on this joinery of development with Walton Lea. I am doing this physical challenge to raise awareness and, hopefully, some money for this amazing community. My short little legs will travel 35km and 90m ascent in one day, and this is rated a tough challenge. I only hope I am up to it, but I will do my best. I have started training, and I am currently walking 25 miles a week. I will keep you updated on my training progress, but it’s not far away, and I will be in Edinburgh on 5th March.
Please support Walton Lea, and if you haven’t visited yet, you are missing a real treat – you will be warmly welcomed.
